DR Prager's Skin Strategies
Stock up on antioxidants: 'Antioxidants are vital when it comes to protecting the skin from the sun and other environmental damage. Evan using large amounts of high-factor SPF's does not afford full protection from harmful rays. For every day use, I would recommend using tropical antioxidants products. This provides the equivalent of SPF8, which is sufficient for day-to-day use. Serums with stabilised form of vitamin C and E, ferulic acid and the newest, most potent antioxidant, phloretin, will prevent and repair sun damage. Powders, creams and other forms of vitamin C do not work.'
Avoid high-protein diets: 'A high-protein diet might work for professional athletes but it doesn't work miracles for the skin. Try to ensure that 80% of your daily food intake incorporates water-rich foods such as vegetables and fruit. Eating foods in season is particularly important to ensure the highest level of nutrients, as well as freshness. Replace tea and coffee where possible with green tea or white tea, which are high in antioxidants, and you will fell and look a million times better.'
Pay attention to your digestive system:'Poor digestion is a common cause of unhealthy skin. Skin reflects what's happening inside your body and in my experience sluggish digestive system results in dull, blemished skin. I Recommend increasing your intake of fibre-organic when possible-and taking a supplement that helps to cleanse the colon, such as Oxytarm, which includes ozone, magnesium and oxygen. The active ingredients detoxify, disinfect, clean, heal and strengthen the digestive organs.'
Invest in fish oil: 'Supplementing your diet with fish oil is incredibly beneficial for the skin.Fish oil can limit damage caused by the sun and help prevent premature skin ageing. I recommend the purest fish oils from Norway. They come in a wine-style bottle, rather than in capsules, and have no off-putting smell or fishy taste. This "liquid gold" is available exclusively at my clinic.'
